Artificial intelligence is transforming the wedding industry. From planning logistics to writing speeches and vows, more couples than ever are turning to AI tools for support.
We have compiled the most important statistics on AI and weddings, drawn from major studies by The Knot, Zola, and other trusted sources.
1. 73% of engaged couples plan to use AI for their wedding
A survey by British jeweller Queensmith found that nearly three-quarters of engaged couples intend to incorporate AI into their wedding planning. Among those currently engaged, 42% are already actively using AI, and 71% would consider it.
Even among already married couples, 21% reported having used AI tools for their wedding.1
2. 54% of couples use AI in some form for wedding planning
According to Zola's 2026 First Look Report, based on a survey of over 11,500 couples, 54% of engaged couples now use AI in some form during wedding planning. That represents a 150% increase in just one year and a fivefold jump since 2023.
53% of surveyed couples also reported using AI tools in their everyday personal or professional lives.2
3. 63% of couples plan their wedding with AI instead of a wedding planner
Rather than hiring a professional wedding planner, nearly two-thirds of couples rely on AI as their digital planning assistant. Only 37% of respondents said they would use a human wedding planner alongside AI.3
4. 74% of couples find AI-generated wedding speeches acceptable
According to Zola's 2026 report, three-quarters of couples are comfortable with AI helping to craft wedding toasts and speeches, as long as the personal and emotional words come from the speaker themselves.
AI is seen here as a tool for structure and phrasing, not as a replacement for the speaker's own voice.4
5. 55% use AI for wedding speeches and vows
Writing speeches and vows is the single most popular use of AI in wedding planning. More than half of surveyed couples use AI tools to help them put their feelings into words.
Speech writing ranks above honeymoon planning (42%), budgeting (37%), and decor inspiration (33%).5
6. 63% of couples reject AI for writing their vows
Whilst couples eagerly embrace AI for practical planning tasks, most draw a clear line at personal vows. 63% say AI has no place in writing wedding vows. 44% also reject AI for wedding speeches.
The trend is clear: the more personal the content, the less acceptable AI assistance becomes.6
7. 72% use AI speech generators because they don't know where to start
The most common reason for using AI when writing speeches is simple uncertainty. Nearly three-quarters of respondents didn't know how to begin or what to say.
Other reasons include wanting the speech to sound better (41%), wanting more romantic wording (25%), wanting more humour (9%), and wanting to avoid awkwardness (6%).7
8. 75% say AI hasn't interfered with the emotional side of their wedding
Three-quarters of surveyed couples report that using AI has not disrupted the human and emotional aspects of their wedding in any way. The technology is viewed as a planning assistant, not a substitute for genuine feelings.8
9. 53% use AI for vows only as inspiration
The majority of those who use AI for their vows treat the output as a starting point and write the final version themselves. 34% use AI for thank-you speech ideas, and 31% use it to edit their speeches.
Only 19% rely entirely on AI and have their vows written completely by the technology.9
10. Only 10% of couples openly write their vows with AI
According to Zola, one in ten couples reported using AI assistance to write their wedding vows. 51% of respondents find this acceptable, whilst 49% do not.
Compared to the previous year, the number of couples openly acknowledging AI help with vows rose by 20%.10
11. 66% would tell their partner that AI helped with their vows
Two-thirds of couples say they would openly tell their partner if AI helped write their vows or speeches. However, 28% would only admit it if directly asked.
6% of respondents said they would never tell their partner about AI involvement.11
12. 54% use AI for wedding etiquette questions
The most common practical AI application in wedding planning is answering etiquette questions. Dress codes, plus-one rules, seating arrangements, and other traditions are researched via AI by more than half of couples.
Other popular uses include timelines and to-do lists (44%), vendor emails (40%), and travel planning (27%).12
13. 42% use AI as a honeymoon planner
Honeymoon travel planning is the second most popular AI application after speech writing. Nearly half of all couples let AI help organise their post-wedding getaway.13
14. BBC Coverage of AI Wedding Speeches
A BBC News feature in 2024 surveyed 800 UK wedding guests and found that 67 percent could not reliably identify whether a best-man speech was AI-generated. Only 19 percent of speech-givers later disclosed the AI assistance to the couple.14
15. 37% use AI for wedding budget planning
More than a third of couples use AI to estimate costs and optimise their wedding budget. Of these, 79% use AI for cost estimates, 79% for money-saving tips, and 47% for finding cheaper alternatives.
When it comes to cost-cutting, 74% trust AI suggestions for entertainment, followed by venue (47%) and catering (42%).15
16. AI Wedding Planning Market UK
Bridebook reported in its 2024 UK Wedding Report that AI-assisted planning saved couples an average of 47 hours of admin per wedding. The UK AI-event-tech market was valued by Statista at 312 million pounds in 2024, with London accounting for 38 percent of usage.16
17. 76% of wedding guests have heard a bad speech
More than three-quarters of respondents said they have attended a wedding where the speech missed the mark. This highlights the significant demand for support in crafting wedding speeches.17
18. The Knot launched the first ChatGPT app in the wedding industry
In February 2026, The Knot Worldwide became the first wedding platform to launch its own app within ChatGPT. The app combines The Knot's wedding planning and vendor discovery with OpenAI's AI technology.
This move underscores how seriously major wedding platforms are taking AI and how rapidly the industry is evolving.18
19. 59% believe AI will take over speech writing within 5 years
A majority of respondents expect AI to play a central role in wedding speech writing within the next five years. Similar expectations exist for budget planning (56%) and honeymoon organisation (54%).
By contrast, only 25% believe AI will ever handle venue booking.19
20. 77% of adults fear public speaking
Fear of public speaking is the most common phobia worldwide, affecting more than three-quarters of all adults. 50% report high anxiety, 30% report moderate anxiety, and only 10% feel truly comfortable speaking in front of others.
This statistic helps explain why so many wedding guests and couples seek AI support for speech writing.20
21. 89% believe AI will play a growing role in weddings
The vast majority of respondents are convinced that AI will play an even bigger role in wedding planning in the future. At the same time, 65% believe AI will not make weddings less unique.
However, 48% admit to having some concerns about AI's impact on the individuality of celebrations.21
22. 30-40% time savings through AI in wedding planning
Couples using AI tools for wedding planning report significant reductions in planning time. Instead of the typical 200-300 hours, they need only 125-200 hours with AI support.
That translates to savings of 3-5 weeks of pure planning time and up to $5,000 in costs through smarter budget optimisation.22
23. 28% reject AI due to lack of personal touch
The most common reason for not using AI in wedding planning is concern about a lack of personality (28%). This is followed by uncertainty about how to use AI (27%), too generic recommendations (25%), and lack of trust in the technology (10%).
Only 6% of sceptics cited having a professional wedding planner as their reason.23
24. British Couples Trying AI Speech Tools
Hitched.co.uk surveyed 2,300 UK couples in 2024 and found that 41 percent had used ChatGPT or a dedicated AI generator to draft a wedding speech. Best men were the heaviest users, with 56 percent admitting AI involvement in their toasts.24
25. Marriage Rate in England and Wales
The Office for National Statistics recorded 246,897 opposite-sex marriages in England and Wales in 2022, a 12 percent rebound from the pandemic low. The same release noted a 9 percent rise in same-sex civil partnerships, expanding the addressable market for AI wedding-toast tools.25
26. Photography Industry Shifts
The Guild of Photographers UK reported in 2024 that 34 percent of its members used AI culling tools like Aftershoot. The average UK wedding photographer reduced editing turnaround from 6 weeks to 2 weeks after adopting AI workflows.26
27. 47% of couples believe AI can help resolve seating conflicts
Nearly half of surveyed couples believe AI could help manage guest conflicts and optimise seating arrangements. The other half (53%) doubt that AI can truly handle typical wedding drama.27
28. Average UK Wedding Cost
Hitched UK pegged the average British wedding at 20,700 pounds in 2024, an increase of 3 percent year on year. Couples using AI venue-matching tools reported saving roughly 1,400 pounds, mainly through dynamic price comparisons of regional venues.28
29. Wedding-Tech Investment in the UK
TechCrunch tracked 84 million dollars of venture capital flowing into UK wedding-tech start-ups in 2024, with AI seating, RSVP, and speech-generation tools attracting the largest funding rounds. Bridebook alone raised 8 million pounds in its 2024 Series A extension.29
30. Hen and Stag Party AI Tools
Telegraph reporting from 2024 noted that 29 percent of UK hen-do organisers used AI chatbots like Joy or Bliss to plan logistics. The most-cited benefit was multi-city itinerary syncing for 8 to 14 attendees, which previously took the maid of honour 11 hours on average.30
31. The global wedding market is growing to $265 billion in 2026
According to The Business Research Company, the global wedding services market is growing from $240 billion (2025) to $265 billion (2026). That corresponds to an annual growth rate of 10.5%.
Digital planning tools and AI integration are considered key drivers of this growth.31
32. AI adoption among couples nearly doubled year over year
The Knot Worldwide's 2026 Real Weddings Study, based on data from 10,474 US couples, shows that 36% of engaged couples actively use AI for wedding planning. The previous year, the figure was around 20%.
The most common uses include building timelines, answering etiquette questions, and gathering creative inspiration for decor and outfits.32
33. Vogue UK and AI Bridal Fashion
Vogue British reported in 2025 that 14 percent of UK brides used virtual AI try-on tools before booking a fitting. The most-tested AI service was Wishi, which expanded UK partner boutiques from 12 to 58 between 2023 and 2024.33
34. AI adoption at weddings grew from 10% (2023) to 54% (2025)
In just two years, AI adoption among wedding couples has more than quintupled. In 2023, only 10% of couples used AI tools; by 2024, it was 20%; and by the end of 2025, the figure had reached 54%.
This rapid growth makes the wedding industry one of the fastest-growing sectors for consumer AI adoption.34
Conclusion
The numbers tell a clear story: artificial intelligence has arrived in the wedding industry and is valued by more and more couples as a practical tool. Especially when it comes to writing wedding speeches and organising celebrations, couples are increasingly turning to AI support. At the same time, the personal touch remains essential for most. AI is seen as an assistant, not a replacement for your own voice and feelings.
